South Oakland Community
Lunch Program

Come join us in preparing and serving a meal for area homeless! We meet at the "Church on Main" right across the street from the Main Art Theater on Main St. in downtown Royal Oak at 10:15AM. Our service day ends around 1:30pm. Please contact Lisa Brown to volunteer your time and care!

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

We need 12 volunteers each evening from 7:30pm to 10pm
(registration, prepare and serve meals, distribute blankets)

We need 4 Volunteers to stay overnight from 10pm to 7am
(with Staff supervision)

Food donations to make the meals (pick up food cards at registration table). Donations of hats, gloves, socks or men’s underwear (medium and large).

Manna Soup Kitchen
Volunteers are needed to serve at the Manna Soup Kitchen the last Saturday morning of each month. We meet in the St. John Fisher parking lot to carpool to Detroit. We leaveat 6:30AM sharp (it is recommended you arrive at 6:20AM). The soup line closes at 11:00 and once the kitchen is cleaned up we are generally ready to return home by 11:45.

Catholic Community Response Team (CCRT)
Needs volunteers from 10am - 3pm, Monday—Friday

Volunteers provide referral and direct assistance to those in need in the North Oakland county area (GREAT resume experience for any Social Service students!!!)...your volunteer time could also include answering phones and helping unpack deliveries on Tuesdays (Currently being done by a few SJF parishioners btwn 64-72 years old! URGH! We need help!)

This is an on-going need, but even volunteering for one day is deeply appreciated!!

Our St. John Fisher Outreach Ministry sponsors several events each year that
allow us to share our resources with those in need, such as: such as: South Oakland Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Place of Hope Warming Center, Trips to the Manna Soup Kitchen, etc. This ministry meets on the First Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Our SJF Justice & Peace Ministry team’s mission is to raise our community's social conscience on contemporary issues by witness to the gospel and Catholic Social Teaching. This ministry generally meets on the first Sunday of each month at 8:00 AM. For more information please contact or Sue Buratto.
